Phils-Fish Game Postponed, Irene Arrives
Aaaand here we go again.
The day game between the Phillies and Marlins has obviously been postponed due to the arrival of Hurrincane Irene. This makes the Phils’ loss to the Fish last night a one-game series that has no make-up date planned as of right now.
The next time baseball should be played will be Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. With Cole Hamels supposed to be coming off of the DL for the series opener, and Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee’s starts now being pushed back, everyone is all sorts of confused (and by everyone I mean me) about who will be pitching when.
Pitching coach Rich Dubee has set the record straight.
Hamels will start Monday, Halladay on Tuesday, and Lee on Wednesday against the Reds. Good luck Cincy. You’re going to need it.
With today’s game cancelled and the make-up with the Washington Nationals in a couple of weeks, the Phillies have 33 games to play in 31 days. I REALLY don’t want to see anyone burnt out before the playoffs. We’re just going to have to sit back and see what happens in the next few days regarding updated scheduling.
I know Dubee will do what’s best for the players and the division, but no matter how we look at it, it’s going to be a crazy last month of baseball.
The Phillies Girl is currently frolicking in the San Diego sun. Sorry, East Coasters.
